With the launch of Google Glass there are waves of excitement through the wearable tech industry. Where are we headed?

Wikipedia calls Google Glass, "a wearable computer with an optical head-mounted display (OHMD) that is being developed by Google in the Project Glass research and development project, with a mission of producing a mass-market ubiquitous computer." That is true, but there is a lot more to it. Sergey Brin talked about it at TED:Why Google Glass?

On April 15, 2013, Google released the Mirror API, allowing developers to start making apps for Glass. In the terms of service, it is stated that developers may not put ads in their apps or charge fees; a Google representative told The Verge that this might change in the future. Google offers a companion Android and iOS app called MyGlass, which allows you to configure and manage your device. While application developers are developing their latest GLASS app, Google has advised the Google Explorers to use the devices responsibly and to people at large, that the product is evolving. In the midst of this hullabaloo, Daffodil has its app developers at the job as well.

Where are we headed?

As Glass is not yet out with its Ray-Ban and Oakley versions, its not yet a fashion accessory. It goes without saying that Google Glass becomes more alive when its applications supports augmented reality. Here are the some domains our technology experts think we are headed for a breakthrough in with Glass.

Healthcare
Emergency Room assistance is one area where it seems Glass can really assist surgeons and improve the surgical procedure by providing layers of information over real time. By virtue of it being wearable, the information that the surgeon has access to could range from advice from specialists on the other side of the globe to real time info indicating patient health.

Travel and Tourism
Many AR apps are already out there that make it easier for the user to book bus, train and air tickets while looking at a catalogue. Also, we can help you in creating apps that provide relevant travel and reservation information to the user based on his location and surroundings.

Hospitality
Hotels, restaurants and cafe's can set up table and room booking apps that show real-time reservation information and carry out booking via voice commands on Glass.

Realty
Real estate owners can showcase their product better with information layers on Glass combined with virtual tours. Virtual tours for various properties can be integrated into Glass apps for creating value for the user as well as the seller while touring localities.

Real-time Guidance
Critical activities like learning to drive or park a car, as well as leisurely ones like learning to code, play guitar, and lot many things can become much easier and hassle free with apps developed for Glass.
